Annoying camera dolly

Isa got camera issues, well one anyway when it comes to dollying sometimes. Every now and then when Im trying to dolly in, Maya decides to change the dollying scale on me and I end up having to over dolly just to zoom in a small distance. Then it will revert back to its normal dolly for no reason, anyone got an idea has to whats going on here?

Could it be that when you dolly too far in, and past the object in focus/camera pivot point, that the pivot point perhaps move off somewhere?

So that when you dolly though objects or far enought through them, then a new camera foucs point is set.

Edit: I see now, that if you select a few verticies and focus the camera on that selection, and if you dolly into and past the selected components, the camera's pivot point actually moves with the camera and is repositioned to some unintuitive spot behind an object.

go check out the movements in the graph editor, maybe there is some unwanted movements because of keyframes laying too close together.

Na its got nothing to do with keyframing, Im talking about manually dollying in. I think undseth might be onto something though although I cant make it happen purposely by selecting some vertices and dollying in. By pivot point do you mean centre of interest?

I probably used the wrong term.

The camera do seem to pivot around its second handle, a handle which position itself onto stuff whenever you select something and press "f".

The second camera handle is visible if you select the perspective camera and press "t" on the keyboard.
