Question Page turning

Hi,

I was asked to make simple vid - "commercial" of a book. It is really just an animated background and a nicely and smoothly animated book - with page turning effect.

I was trying to use CC Page Turning in AE but it seems coarse and clumsy.

Do you know some other method to do this? Tutorial? Or maybe some plugin?

Here are some stills from some other ad I found on the internet. But this is the effect I want to achieve http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/616/comicadeq7.jpg

Thanks for your help.

To achieve that look you need a 3D app or you could use Zaxwerks. Maybe a combination of 3D in AfterEffects and CCPage Turn? The reason AE doesn't do page turn well is because it wasn't meant for that type of "3D". Most of what you get from AE in terms of 3D is simple 3D space alignment and depth of field. You can work it so that that you "Trick the eye" into believing there is more there, but that does take some thought and planning. Maybe the 3D flag plug-in? IDK, whenever I have to do that I usually use 3D MAX.

Here's a link:

You could also try a freebie program to do some of the 3D - like Blender. At the very worst you could just create the book with blank pages and motion points and use motion tracking and corner pinning to make your image conform to the page (sounds like it would be more trouble than it's worth).

suztv:
I figured out yesterday that AE is no good for such a work, after few hours of trying to achieve anything

I found this tut: http://www.highend3d.com/maya/tutor...mating/266.html
and it works pretty well.

So I'll propably just stick with 3d.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Serge has a nice AE 3D book here:

Click Project for the project file. But the page turn is only with Bezier Warp and not really two sided, so maybe Maya is easiest.

Yeah totally feel your pain - although looking at Zaxwerks warp 3d layer - that might be your answer if you wanted to stay in AfterEffects. Like I said - I usually use 3D Max for that. Too bad After Effects won't let you bend the layers in 3D space without another plug-in.
