organic tribal

This image is a mixture of 3D, 2D and photography.
The organic form in the middle of the picture was built with 3D software in 3 different parts.
Outlines were added to the parts, photo material projected into them and tribal shapes put into the background.
The background itself is a photo of bark, to which I added different other layers.

The image has a psychedelic character, contrasted by the white 2D shapes.

Very nice looking! The elements sit well together and i like your textures. Really love your bark photo. Did you take that yourself or is it stock?

Crit wise, I feel like the piece is not done yet. The two impressions i get is its graffiti like and almost feels like it should say something or running with the nature feel, it should have one more extension to complete the wings as it feels like a partial butterfly or bug. I could be way off, and maybe keeping the piece as is makes the viewer study it harder, but I would suggest trying to expand it in someway as it feels like the work has more to say.

Thanks for your good criticism.
I understand your feeling that the image isn`t done yet, but I didn't want to give a clear meaning to it.
The Viewer should do the final step in interpretation by himself. I like to provoke the viewers own imagination, so he finds his own individual meaning and thoughts.
I used two dimensional elements to force the three dimensional ones into plain and by this cause a permanent flip between plain and three dimensional in order to make it abstract.

The photo of the bark and all other photo material I used in this image was made by myself.

Very good. I'm quite accepting of open ended pieces and as implied thought you might be heading that way. And i completely agree that the play between dimensions causes the viewers brain to keep re-interpreting the piece in different ways.

Do you know what type of tree it was you took that photo of? I really like its tone and texture and is not something that looks instantly recognizable.

Sorry I can`t remember what the tree looked like.
Unfortunately I have only the photo of the bark not of the entire tree.
But here is the original photo of the bark, perhaps it helps you to classify the tree:
