How Do I Impor an Object
I am willing to test blender, but I'm not intrested in the modeler, so I opened blender an tryed to import a model I've already done somwhere else.
Didn't find an import command so tryed with the open command.
Tryed to open obj and wrl files, both crashed blender.
Searched the manual but there's no mention about importing.
Can someone tell me how to import a model?
I'm very new to blender, and blender interface is very weird so please explein to me as if I was 3 years old

A must have for Blender OBJ import, Blender 2.23. Get it here-
To run this OBJ Script here-
-you load the script hit alt-p and chose an import or export save point.

blender only imports 2 types VRML and DFX. if you want to import other file types you need to use python scripts you can find more info on avaiable scripts here:

the import menu is basically the Open menu, you just have to select the file you wish and if blender recognizes it's format it'll import...
But for a good DXF import, you'll need a good DXF export and a lot of patience and luck... well some (most) are lukier than I am and importing DXF is just like opening a blend file, but dor me it leads to a crash most of the time.

you can try version 2.01 which works with blender 2.23
A lot of work is being done to get the python API consistent and this induces changes so scripts that worked with 2.23 might not work with 2.25-6-7.
