Local rotation axis unstable o_O

The local rotation axis of joints are not stable, they change .. i dunno why. Ive set their orientation manually ( u__u 50 joints one by one ...) and now i've to re set them manually...
Is it normal? do it have to lock them ( dunno how )

ps : is there a way to orient them automatically? I tried the 'orient joint' action, but it affect the skinned mesh

I use Jason S's script to orient joints. Works like a charm.

when you move joints it changes their LRA.
to position them while keeping their LRA scale and roatate. (which is slow and sucks)
Or like everyone else use Jason's scripts. (Maya 4.5 has an Orient joint command as well)
