Question Nurbs enviorment with high render

I was wondering if anyone knew of any ways to drop render time on models. I have a nurbs environment that is basically a cathedral with a lot of duplicated area's. I'm using all procedural texturing (some being layered textures) When I render the scene even on the low settings and this is before I've done the lighting it's taking about 45 min to render out. I was wondering if anyone had some tricks to drop the render time on this. I'm more of an animator than a modeler or render wrangler. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Is that due to the scene or your computer?

Maybe set the tessellation factor lower for less important areas...?
