3D Sculpting Workshop - MOTION

November 17, 2007 - January 5, 2008

Welcome to the Anatomy Forum's 3D sculpting workshop!

This workshop is open to any 3D scultping medium and style. Some informal moderation will be provided by Magdalena Dadela and Rebecca Kimmel however, the purpose of the workshop is for every participant to interact with and informally critique other artistsí work.

The
goal of the workshop is to complete at least one piece - either a master copy or an original work within the designated time.
NOTE: The references provided below are just a suggestion if you don't have any ideas of your own You are welcome to come up with characters of your own as long as they relate, directly, to the main theme of the workshop

GUIDELINES:

1. Sculpt a character according to the theme of the workshop - MOTION [it doesn't mean your character has to be running - it can just as well be a subtle twist of the muscles ] . It doesn't have to be a copy of a painting or a sculpture - the choice is yours!

2. You can use a ready made/downloaded base mesh but the sculpting work has to be done entirely during this workshop - no previously started sculpts will be allowed! Should you use another artist's base mesh please give credit.

3. You may create a whole figure or a small study of a part of the body. The idea is to give it your best and try to create as accomplished a piece as possible. Consider the time constraints! You are not obliged, however, to make just one finished piece, and if you do not feel like doing a master copy, by all means choose your own reference.

4. You may use any style and interpretation you want - as long as it does adhere to the theme of the workshop and is tasteful, respectful and for the purpose of study of human anatomy.

5. You may use any 3D sculpting software you have access to

6. If you decide to create your own character - it is suggested that you post any major references you will be using and give credit where it is due.

7. The moderators will be offering occasional comments but the main focus of the workshop is for the artists to critique each other's efforts So post your WIPs and b
e courteous and polite while answering to other people's posts.

8. Please, limit the size of your images to 800px in
width.

9. You are welcome to post your work in your personal anatomy sketchbook as well as this thread.

!!! HOPE YOU'LL JOIN IN AND HAVE FUN !!!

Hi..Magdalena..
I am thinking of putting #13 Polyphemus as a relief onto this ancient wine container shape that I just did..much more work needs to be done on the girls, just started it...Will have him looking at the girls bathing at the edge of a stream...will complete the theme I think, and should look pretty good on the container I think..will give me a chance to explore this relief effect further and in detail...I can also do him, as an in the round sculpture, and use the one on the container as a warm up.
So what do you think..Magdalena...is that ok for this workshop..
LET ME KNOW.
TAKE CARE
Glenn
