Character: Cel Shaded Anime Girl

A bit of Lightwave, Unreal and BESM cell shaded work on my anime girl Mei Mei.

I really like the look of that. I'm not so much of a graphics person (I have a good friend who is though and has some work here, hence why I'm here) but I like the attention to detail while still making it look like a character cell.

Very niice Chewey. Sort of an anime Betty Boop. Like the shading.

it doesnt look exactly like a cell shaded cartoon becuase some of the shadows are blurry wich in cell shaded cartoons they are not.
but awsome!

her leggings look very CG... the shader just doesn't feel right.

exactly. it is the legs that throw the whole thing off. and the hair. but the hair looks good though, just not cell shaded.

I think the hair matches really nice.

Agree with the legs.

Yes Chewey! I like it a lot, especially the hair. Which you did.....How?!?!?

i know wot Bitmap means, i'm thinkin it could be the angle of the lighting, or just that black outline doesn't stand out as much as the rest of the model i.e. her hands and her right shoulder.

thanks! the hair is just uv mapped clip maps on quite a few poly pieces.

Hah Har!!! i knew it!!!

i thaught i could see a good use of clip mapping around the bottom of her hair.

so....i'm curious about something, which is which! wots UnReal, and Wots BESM? and how come you combined the two?

They are both cel shader plugins for Lightwave.

No i mean which surfaces did you use UnReal on and which surfaces did you use BESM on? and how come you use BESM at all? (i got the impression UnReal has the best control/options for celshading)
