Characer WIP thread

so here's the face. any ideas on how to close up the hole on the side of the face? i have been using the anzovin "building a face with bill young" cd as my reference. do you think i should have less splinage since my character is very toony?

thanks all,

The obvious way to close the hole would be to put a point in the middle of the segment that makes its bottom edge, connect that with a new segment to the point at the top, and use a hook and two five-point patches to close it all up....

The splineage does look a touch heavy to me, but then, I have an overriding fear of overly complex systems....

Nice model, though. Very cool, very stylized.

what do you think so far

here's an update. got him rigged and some temporary texturing. i still need to adjust the rig.... i need to be able to put the character in might just needs lots of smartskin, but i would rather control most deformantions from rig/intermediate bones. anyway, let me know what you all think.

i know the face has lost some of the character it had originally, but this happened as i tried to fit it to the body. i still have the old head and plan to make a body for it.

Yow ,

Thats looking really great ,,

doesn't the Hung Gar hand block need to have the middle fingers second knuckle bent with the rest ?

it's looking really good

we can talk about the chamber later ...

he is starting to come alive.....maybe/kinda

ok, here is another update. starting to give him some character. the rig seems to be working ok, so the next step is to setup facial animation, get some better eyes, and try to smooth out the cheeks some more.....then i guess i'll have to learn to texture better and quit just using colors. anyway, as always comments welcome.

I love this character -- and I don't know why. I think its how he has that innocent smile while performing martial art positions.

Dude has some major personality and style there, very cool.

Disturbing shades of The Yellow Kid with that hat, though....
