storing facial poses / phonemes

hey everyone,
i'm just curious to know how some people approach this:

i have a joint based facial rig set up for animators use using the box / slider ui method, with a 2nd level of local controllers for fine adjustments etc. i'm trying to think of how the best way to store phonemes would be. part of me thinks writing a mel script that pops up a window with a list of stored phonemes that will just store controller translation data would be the best way, but having a shelf or something with the poses is easier and possibly easier to use.

does anyone else have any other ways that they approach phoneme pose storing?
