Concept Sketch or 3D pre-visualization: Sketch

First sketch, kind if rough, but most important elements are drawn as they will apear in the final scene!
This is going to be a fun challenge! I wish everyone good luck!

HI Varma!!!

Hi Man!

As soon as I think of something I'll enter the contest...

Can you please explain the "strange behaviour" concept that you have here?

Be cool Varma!

The first sketch looks excellent. Looks like a really interesting scene and the scale of the fish (no pun intended) is impressive. I'm also a bit unsure of the strange behavior aspect of the scene, although the scene itself is delightfully strange. What was your idea?

But there could be plenty of ways of introducing strange behavior into this scene even if there was none so far. The hunters could be running around in weird fish suits, or they could be planning on eating some beef when so much fish is lying next to them just waiting to be eaten (they could have a book called 101 Beef Recipes), or one of them could be putting bait onto a hook to cast a line into the sea when they clearly don't need to go fishing for a long time. Or you probably have your own much better ideas.

Great start. I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes

Is it a bunch of kids playing on top of the swordfish? That would be strange behavious indeed.
I think you have a great start here, the scene is big enough to let you come up with all sorts of strange things.

(And I've dropped the underwater thing for the moment- feel free to dive if you wish)

Yo mac! I'm so pleased to hear that you decided to join! We're gonna have loads of fun!!!
Waiting anxiously to see your "strange" sketch!

Hei Mark! So very elegant of you to drop by! I liked your ideas, especially the 101 recipes,
gives me some Ideas for the next project! I guess the scene should be more focused then
to show the cover of the book!

Gunilla
Hallais! I knew you would come short for oxygen in there, down there, in there! I'm sure
you will come up with another better idea to replace the latter! Your surrealistic depiction
of Ideas has proven to be very interesting!

About my "Starnage B";
In most places, when the tide washes up some sort of fish out to the strand, people gather
all their recourses and efforts trying to put the poor fish back in the water, but no! Not in
this tiny Island, where natural recourses are meager and food is scarse, (dead trees in the
righthand)!
So they drag the fish even further from the sea, ensuring the next tide won't take it away,
and Yipppi, they throw a party!!
The one on top is actually slaying the thick skin, the one at the tail is cutting the tail off,
and two other guys in front...
I guess I will hold back some suprises, so the thread could be more interesting!
Poor fish, all this is happening where the fish is still alive!

Thanks all for dropping by!

Hei Jassar! Friend, yes, old, neveeeeer! I'm glad you like it so far! Hope I can keep your
interest as the thread evolves!
Yo Mark! Thanks a lot! I got some interesting stuff going on in the scene not visible in the
sketch! Hope you approve them as well! Good luck to you too!

Shading (Textured and lit): Fire and Sand

Fire and sand!
I used nurbs primitives for the fire with a ramp shader applied, sparks are tiny single polygons with the same material as the fire!

Fire looks good! How about some footsteps and traces in the sand?

Hi Man!

Fire looks warm and inviting... great!

Besides the suggested footsteps it would be cool not to have sand with an evident pattern...

Be well!

Thanks and you have a good point, I will have to do some footsteps after the whole
shore is UVed, maybe displacement maps for that!

mac
Yo brother, thanks! You are right! I just gave it a procedural bump to have something
under the fire for referencing, but I will hand paint the displacement/bump by the time
the ground level is modeled! Thanks for the tip!
Ps; are you done marinading those pork chops? I'm starving!
