a doodle that got out of hand

Normally I doodle in small bits, but I've been doodling in one place for a while now...

It's done with Newek Aura 2, in case you were curious.

wow... how did you do that, cant seem to make good shadows with penciles, witch i think you used, any tips on making such good gradianted "does this word exist?" shadows?

It's all about the pencil tool in Aura -- much more responsive than photoshop, painter or any other program that I've used for drawing. The one exception I know of is Cosmigo Pro Motion, but even though it's responsive, it's only 256 colors. Because Aura is so responsive it allows me to draw quickly and with big strokes.

it doesn't need color to be finished. color would just distract from all the detail work, i think.

that's really lovely, it has marvelous texture

I did make a drawing in Aura of similar style that I used color for:

I think I'm just a bit intimidated to use color on such a large drawing. I don't want to spend the rest of my life on one piece.

wuaha, the first one
drawn trendwhore, nice work, indeed

what does 'drawn trendwhore' mean? It sounds angry.

Old 03 March 2003   #11
trendwhore means that it looks like u did it in a very common trendy style... (i.e. many other artists have done it before and in the same way.)

Very cool. I'd like to have a wallpaper like that on my desktop. I wish I could see a larger version to be able to find all the added extras you thought up. Really good job. Looking forward to seeing more like it.

okay, vizion and LoneLobo, you need to defend that statement... post some links to other artists who have done similar work. I'd love to see some.

I do mean that as a challenge, but I also mean it that I have an interest in that kind of work. Heck, why would I draw in a certain way if I didn't like it?

Actually, what I'm working towards is animating in this style and detail. I have found some ways of working this way, but I'm far from refined. Here, take a look at an example of what I've done so far.

Oh, don't misunderstand me

I think, your work is incredible, It's awesome work, especially for me, I'll never come to a point where i could do something like this with all the small details!

but when I first saw it, the word "trendwhore" rushes in my mind until i saw that it was drawn

Usually trendwhores are bizarre shapes which are just a box with lots of noise in max or similar.
here's an example picture to show what i mean (image is done by tub):

I normally don't like trendwhores very much, because EVERYONE uses it, they are so easy to build.

But that is not anything negative to your pic! Like said before, it reminds me of a trendwhore, thats everything
