HCM 9: STAR WARS - Boushh Leia & Frozen Han

I'm going for the scene from Jedi where Leia unfreezes Han from the Carbonite.
haven't nailed down a composition yet (will do that today), but my initial thought is
to have her looking over her shoulder, back at the camera, while working the controls on
Han.

Looks like I've got some competition for this scene! This should help spur me to make some quicker progress.

Welcome to the challenge, HillbillyKing.

So we picked the same scene huh? ha ha. Well, I wouldn't worry too much about me. If my history stays true...I'll work really hard on this for a couple weeks then totally miss the deadline only to come back to the project months from now! ha ha.
I do hope to finish the scene though (fingers crossed)
maybe we can give each other some good feedback.

Thanks man. I should have another update of the room late tonight. One piece of advice: if you're getting screen shots from the films of Jabba's throne room for reference, shoot for two scenes in RotJ: when 3PO and R2 are first presented to Jabba, and when the band plays for Jabba just before Ooala gets fed to the rancor. At first I was working off of shots just during the scene where Leia rescues Han, but it's so dark in most of those shots that it's near impossible to see anything.

If you need reference images, let me know and I'll email you a Zip of everything I've got so far.

Finally Started

Ok, so last night I finally got to work on this. I decided to start on the helmet first. I was having some trouble getting a base shape, my goal is to have the entire helmet modeled and normal mapped by this weekend (I know....I'm slow) Working on it tonight. Hope to have better update tomorrow.

More Helmet Work

I've had the chance to work some more on the helmet. I've broken Boushh into two segments: Helmet and the body. I'm hoping to finish the helmet (with UV's) tomorrow.

Excellent work, man! The detail you've got, particularly in the ear piece, is just fantastic.

latest update

Here's the latest on my leia. Started working on the outfit. I've also added a thermal detonator. I'm still tossing around the idea of doing Chewbacca in chains so the detonator may come in handy.

very nice! keep going! =) perhaps make the edges on the thermal detonator a tad "sharper", they look a bit too smooth but that might just be the smoothing groups or something i guess.

Really nice, man. Can I ask where you're finding all the detail in the chest strap components? I've got a lot of pictures, but nothing shows the level of detail that you're covering here.

sharper edges on the detonator

You're right. It looks more like orange slices than cut metal. Before I texture it I'll go in and
try to sharpen it up. Thanks.
