Quicktime VR Animation in C4D?

I have to create a cell phone in QTVR. The phone needs to be sliding open, somehow.

Does anyone know how to do this with c4d's qtvr exporter?

I don't think Cinema can do what you're wanting to do. All it can do is either rotate around an object, and pan around a scene, and if I'm reading right, you want the user to be able to slide this phone open and closed? Yeah if that's right I don't think it can do it.

You can use C4D to render the necessary files to create an interactive QTVR...but to complete the project you need to use either Apple's QTVR tools or 3rd party tools to effect the opening of the phone. There may even be freeware tools available that allow you to create vr's with hotspots that automatically open...(by making the hotspot big enough the phone could slide open or closed when the viewer's mouse enters the center 55% of the page)
Anyway it is doable...but you need the software to make a QTVR with hotspots

Various software info here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/reso...tools/qtvr.html

At least once a year I find myself posting this link.
Lizard Lounge created a great little file for rendering as sequence that can then be saved as a qtvr with 3rd party tools. Its a very old link--but still useful.

Can someone give me an idea of which program they use on the PC to do this?

I've tried VR Worx but it doesn't load an image sequence or a movie file correctly.

Before buying anything do a thorough search for freeware tools. I don't have any links but 3 years ago i had a job doing extensive VR walkthroughs for a development project and it's proposed neighbourhood. As a result i did a lot of work with panoramic photography and VR tools ...and I was amazed at the quality of the freeware tools - pc and mac. So do search the free knowledge and tools on the net...it's extensive and you may find everything you need. I would try start searching 'panoramic photography' or panoramas and that will lead to VR applications. I say that cuz that's the route i took.
Good Luck

Realviz is a good one for VR walkthroughs, but i need a program to do VR objects.

JoelD i rendered that sequence out but now i can't find a program that will create a VR object from it. Have you done this before, if so which program did you use to create the VR object?

Thanks.

hi dan

Did you render out using the lizard lounge qtvr camera setup I posted a link to?

If you're not on a mac, Im not sure exactly what route to take for the transfer. Im sure theres got to be an app out there that will convert it for Windows.

I've used the old outdated Apple app to convert.

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/11645

I might be able to help you depending on what you need and when.
I know theres a way to incorporate mouse-over animation, but I've only done static qtvr objects. Might want to ask "smurfted"--the space/robot guy. He has posted qtvrs from time to time--and I think hes Windows.

hi,

yup i got the object rendered using the lizard lounge technique. i've been trying to find a program to convet the .mov into a .qtvr, but i can't find one for the pc.

for now i have 2 cellphones opening and closing that i need in qtvr. then i need to make many more. supposedly 100 all together, according to the client.

its going to be a long term project. i'm thinking maybe i should just invest in an imac or something.

I will see if i can track down "Smurfted".

Could you maybe convert one movie for me, just to see how it looks? If you convert it on your mac, i could still play it on my pc, is that right?
