Dominance War II: Ramseus

Latest update: texture wip

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, this is what I came up with. He's an assassin stealth infiltrator type kind of guy - his armour is an ultra thin and ultra light alloy that also happens to be ultra strong (how lucky), and the wrappings are some sort of metal/fabric mix that is capable of deflecting projectiles/energy blasts and can protect him from weaker blows and slashes, and he has no boots so that nobody can hear his footsteps (sneaky sneaky). For weapons he'll have some sort of staff type of weapon with a blade on the end, and blades that pop out of his wrist guards - I drew them on paper but didn't bother doing them in PS.

I'm obviously not much for concept art... I guess I'll just be screwing around with the model a lot
(zombie arms ftw)

Here's the low poly, some errors left, some optimization left, no hair, yadda yadda yadda. Currently at 5250 tris. Not bad so far for my second character.

Kinda neat idea I like the mask. I'm not much on giving crits because I'm not exactly able to give technical advice sometimes. It doesn't look bad at all really but the body comes off as too much of a box to me. Maybe try rounding it a little unless that's what you were going for with the armor and stuff.

the legs are too short. can't figure it out from this angle but his but might be too low. try to look on the internet for references on anatomy and proportions.look for as many references as you can find. references are the best way to see what's wrong.

Alrighty then, I'll try to get the proportions right tommorrow. This is what I got done today, some work on the high(ish) poly model that will later be taken into zbrush. Yeah, the hand's fraked up I know, I'll redo it eventually.

I stretched out the ankle area and made the belt smaller, looks about right now. Made some other changes to the low poly. I'm not sure if I want to keep the old dangley things or the new ones which are more samurai-esque. I'm thinking the new ones or the back old'un and front new'un. Anyways, I'll just stop talking now.

I redesigned the leg armour, and got rid of the dangly things - they aren't very condusive to stealth. I also just noticed how fat his legs are, other than that the low and mid poly models are pretty much done. Low poly currently at 5912, cutting it pretty close.

Normal mapped. There's some clean up yet to be done in PS. I would have posted a screenshot but my DX shaders stopped working for some reason.

Hmm take care of the fingers, it seems to be alittle too cylindrical right now, but I have no actual experience with game modeling so it might be different. Same thing with the feet, especially the bottom, it seems kind flat right now, and received far less attention then the rest of the body.

Maybe try 3dbyte's technique where once you Zbrushed/mudbox the model and normal mapped, try adjusting the low poly's vertices straight away. Currently the leg seems a little too short, and the abdomen part a little too long.

Otherwise, keep the good work!

Some little tweaks, some additional hair planes, rigging, and he'll be done.
