I figured since I had a lazer scan toy of this bad babe on my desk I should go medusa.

Dont look directly at this thread... use a mirror or something.

Smile

I did a little more over the weekend. Having trouble deciding to match face to distant model or closeup- which are quite different. Havent tweaked the face, initial shaders all over.

Okay, squeezed some more time after work. Added partial rig and tweaked her about a bit.

Really looking good. Do you have wires of the base mesh. Would like to see them.

Hey great work Dave! One thing I noticed was maybe the snakes would benefit from some more visible scales?

That's looking wonderful. Will it be animated?

Can't wait to see the final lighting.

Thanks

Possibly animated, she is properly rigged for posing. the snakes would be a headache, but I could just have them doing figure 8s like Ray did!

Yup, this turned out well. This looks like it was hard to get any good reference for, because of the dim lighting and dark shadows in the movie scene, so we'll have to forgive it not being exactly the same as that one. I'd guess you were working from your toy figurine more than anything)
It's stands up pretty well on its own merit though.

Thanks all.

They say the toy is a scaled down laser scan of the original, but even allowing for errors in scanning, aging of the original model, warping from silicone casting and shrinkage in materials she actually doesnt look like the one Ray is shown touching up in the photo. The cheeks seem quite drawn in and the lines have been exaggerated. The paint job is also not the best - it sits her eyes in the center and not up against the lids- she looks a little like Teves sculpt of Meg Mucklebones more than Medusa did.

The film is also not very well mastered, so pausing doesnt seem to help on the distant shots- the dummy prop held by Perseus doesnt match the close up face, which doesnt match the long shot model. Tricky to catch- I havent used image planes of photos and decided to split the difference and find something pleasing.

She needs a bit of tweakage.

Hi KingofDaveness,

Nice work, do agree on the snakes though, those could use some more definition, you could taper them down like tentacles and snakes tend to look in real life, the deltoids, pecs and hips could use some work as well, also the cheekbones could be thicker and the lighting seems too dark, good job on the colours and pose, other then that, looking forward to your progress, keep it up.
