HARDCORE MODELING: Ray Harryhausen Tribute: Medusa

I have decided to go with a diorama of Medusa in her temple. I chose this particular creature/scene because the available reference pictures are few and difficult to see, allowing me some freedom. It is also a great lighting challenge for me.

I have already done a good bit of the Medusa model, but she is by no means finished. The arms are obviously twisted badly (she was modelled in a t-pose and rigged, but I haven't weighted her yet). Her bow, arrows and quiver are not yet modelled. The texturing is not 100% yet either (especially the eyes, which are just simple 3D textures at the moment). The lighting is just temporary spots until she is placed in her temple.

With the extreme incomplete-ness in mind, let me know what you think. My biggest conern is I may not have made her tail long enough. I'm wondering if I should redo that portion of her or not.

Yea I think the tail would benefit from being longer and coiled - just like in the photograph above. Thats basically your reference right there, try and encapsulate everything in the model itself. I would say the snakes on here head need to be thicker and possibly more numerous. Keep it up!

Medusa (Updated)

Here are a couple of updated shots. Medusa is now in a rough, simple temple. Neither she nor the temple is finished.

Let me know what you think and where the improvements should be made.

Hi nice, start. I think the waist and the hips need to flow into one another smoothly. Keep it up!

The only real change that I've made thusfar is with the lighting, as well as some small texture changes. I think this helps somewhat, but I'm still wondering how to best show up the Medusa model within her temple, as the model and the scene are btoh very basic and neutral in coloration. Tips? Comments?
