Comments: Well, i have to say that i am very happy with the comp, the quality displayed in here surprised me, im looking foward for the next comps. For the last few days i had a few problems finding time to work on this project, besides i had a few problems while trying to model the relieves, so the ending result is far from what i would be happy with, its more like a dummy model than a real model. I hope to later work more on it, also i hope to do the other 2 relieves.
I also had problems finding references, specially from the main statue ( doe the height of it ) and from the relieves, but lukcly i could draw them using lots of pictures as references, so i will do the last ones later.
I hope to work more on the model and create a beuty shot with a better lighting and textures by friday. So i would also thanks everybody who commented on the wip thread, couldnt hv done without the help of you guys, this forum rocks.

Hehe, glad to be the first to show our entry! Hope you like it.

Comments: Others pictures and ortographics renders on our WIP thread.

First I want to say thanks to Giorgio who even at 6000Km away from here was able to cimmunicate often and answer very fast. Galenty was also very helpful even if she joined us very late, thanks. I hope work with both of you soon!

We took the entire time, four weeks plus the extra week, thank Roberto. I've put around 15 hours/weeks and I think it's the same for Jojo. Unfortunately, 75% of the time was put on research and observation of tourists photography (they have all the same photo!). Others participants are very good, especially KumarC who also make Canada House. It is a great competition, GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!

Woah it been great fun working on the Modeling Challenge. These are

new times for me here. The work qnd words of the other participants have been a constant source of encouragement and motivation.Almost all the image references which was usable was downloaded from this forum.( I even tried google earth...) The building by itself is an amazing work of architecture and art. Sadly, could not
do justice to all the intricate artwork and engraving all over the building. I spent an average of about one and half to two hours on in it per day. Had a really tough time trying to work the proportion out and everytime it would look totally different in a different image. I guess there is going to be a certain amount of distortion in most of the photographs. The renders were done with mental ray and final gather. To manage the large file size and all the duplicating I used referencing by keeping the orginal in a separate file and referencing the same. This gave me faster working speed. In most cases like railings I have used more than one orginal to keep a mild variation going and trying to avoid the duplicated feel.( The flags still look highly duplicated though)Looking forward for the next challenge and one final beauty render pass for this thread.
Thanks Roberto its been great.

Comments: Well, I haven't finished by the deadline, but you can check out my WIP in the thread above. I'll try and get the whole scene together by Friday, but you'll just have to judge on what I've posted up until this point. I'll make a point of marking anything I post from now on as being past deadline.

I have to say, I've really enjoyed doing this challenge. As ever, I've bitten off more than I can chew, but hey, variety is the spice of life. I'm fairly happy with the models I've done, though could do with a bit of tweaking and detailing. Still really struggle with organic shapes, but that's what practice is for! Finding decent references was a nightmare, plenty at some anges, and then just blanks at others.

I've nearly got the scene that I set out to do, overlooking the base of the column, towards the national gallery. I am rather disappointed not to have the finished scene to post at this time, but I didn't expect to even get this far.

I really like the models everyone else did, Andre's Lion and Nelson are great with amazing detail, and both the Canada House submissions look spot on.
