Unhappy Please help a little girl find her true face...

This is an illustration that i am doing for a chidren's poem written by someone I know...

There's something about her face that I am not liking, but I can't put my finger on the problem. I was wondering if any of you guys can help me out...

P.S. Feel free to critique any other problems you might find ^_^

Here are a few issues I found:

1 - The eyes are a bit too bright, so they end up popping out too much. This is enhanced by the fact you made very thin eyelashes, so she could use thicker ones. =) Don't forget the eyelashes cast shadows over the eye.

2 - The neck is too long and not turning correctly. On my paintover the neck is still not quite right, I'd take some time on this. =)

3 - The mouth perspective is a bit off. Also, you added highlights to the whole lip, this makes them look them flat.

4 - The nostrils are also in need of a perspective correction.

5 - She needs more chin! You have it there actually, but the shadow is too deep, I simply brightened it.

I hope you find it helpful. Nice painting!

Thumbs up Thanks for that

Thanks for the tips... I still have difficulties with oblique angles (in fact this is the first time i have attempted it ^_~)...

I suppose that's what i get for using a poser model as reference, since i couldn't get hold of any photographic reference ^_^

I've used poser models myself. It's not 100% correct but it's good enough for learning. The rest of your model looks really natural.
