Vector math for determining cylindrical distance?

I have some particles emitting from the world origin and travelling down the Z axis.
I want to modify a particle property depending on how far they are away, cylindrically, from the Z axis. I don't want to modify particles that remain close to the Z axis, even though they may have travelled along way along it.

I'll be pulling particle data fron the 'TP GetData' node, and comparing it to a node located at world origin. Can anyone tell me the right vector math set up to do this?

ahm isnt that simple pitagora? u get the distance from x and y coordiunates, distance^2 = x*x + y*y
