Xray shader with VEX?

Anyone know how to make a nice xray
type shader with VEX? Kinda like the
Fight Club opening.

The shader in fight club was supposed to look like a scanning electron microscope, not an x-ray.
The SEM is a very simple shader, basicly just the following:

Cf = 1-abs(dot(normalize(N),normalize(I)))

if that helps at all.

Cool, didn't think it was that simple. So I made a VOPnet out of it. Here's how it looks like:

wow! that looks really cool. I need to put an OpenGL graphics card in this piece of crap so I can get Houdini running.

Can someone please post here a step by step guide to make that shader?

I am a total newbie to houdini , just installed apprentice today , that shader looks perfect! , i would love to learn the making of

just compile the one line shader in my last post...

nice rendering by the way! is that an isosurface of a sphere plus a noise function?

Personally, I hate compiling shaders.
If anyone wants, I posted my .hipnc file over on 3dbuzz in the general houdini forum. In the file, there's a surface VOP that does the one-liner. I would post the file here too except that I can't attach anything other than jpegs or gifs.

No, I couldn't figure out how to do that! I ended up by simply generating a default cloud.i3d (VEX fluffy cloud shader) and then putting it into the isosurface. Just did some tweaking with the density to get something interesting after that. The divisions was also upped to 128x128x128 to match the resolution of the 3D texture.

I should try doing a volumetric render instead but didn't bother since it looked good enough just to test the one-liner.
