Hmm some renderings look extremly poor like they come out of standard Max scanline :(

I think you have to look at the style dictated by the toys themselves; they're going for a cartoonish feel. That said, they did have some problem areas.

As a side note, I really hate that they are using renders now for their promotional materials instead of actual photos.

That school project lego Batman short was cooler. If you haven't ordered the DVD yet, I suggest you do. It's completely free, and has some fairly cool CG shorts on it. I just can't recall the school's name...
