HARDCORE MODELING: BIG BEN: (EDIT) Detail: Roof

Well, I managed to squeeze out a roof; I had lots of fun and frustrations, and learned a ton and will continue to work on this model to have something nice for my demo reel. There were so many great entries, and I wish everyone the best.

Weapon of choice: Lightwave 3D 8.3
Hours: 85-95
Polys: 830,000+

(Rendering in process...Having some difficulties rendering 1600 x 1200 with only 768 MB RAM)

Front Ortho 1 2
Top Ortho
Perspective (non-render)

EDIT: It looks like I may be late with my final entry. This computer just isn't cooperating, Well, I wish everyone else the best of luck.

Jamaar! How's it going? Good to see you participating in a CG Challenge, but I'm curious, are you using Lightwave? How did you learn that, I thought they taught with Maya at CCAD..or did you learn it on your own?

Talking It's "Jamarr!"

Thanks, guys.
Hey Barnabas, yep, I'm using Lightwave. Maya's my second language. I'm not quite up to speed with Maya, And don't have that much history with LW, so as opposed to jumping around, I'm gonna stick with LW. And yup, all self taught along with a nice, handful of tutorials.

Here's the little ornament dealie thingie on the very top. Or my interpretation, Since reference is like 25 x 30.

Not too bad, I guess. Some minor porportion or position issues I'll address later. (Feel free to point anything out, though.)

I'm gettin' a lil' scared, though. I'm seeing some things that I'm not particularly sure how to model. But I'll make sure to ask if i'm troubled.

Hey, this isn't as bad as I thought...

Update: I see I have a minor height problem with the top roof that I'll address, along with some other tiny inaccurracies, but I'm going to try and get all the elements and doodads out the way, first. And FPrime isn't working on the computer that I'm modeling on, so that's why my renders are kinda....eh.

Well, I'm interpreting Friday "June 12" as Friday June 16th so if it is, then I'm still hard at work; if it's too late, then, well, I'm still hard at work.

I'll still post some results just for giggles at least by Friday if it's already too late. I'm having a hard time opening up a scene file on the computer that I'm working on with only 512 MB RAM, but I'm working on it. Hopefully I can find a better computer in time.
