Sketchbook Thread of Cyanid

Hello,

thought it would be cool to open an anatomy sketchbook.
I am working on a masterstudy of a painting from caravaggio
http://www.mondomostre.it/images/ca...ravaggio_04.jpg

It's hard to get good skintones! I have often to blend for minutes before I find the right colors...

Cyanid,

Nice to see you here! Very cool to see your Anatomy Thread, and it's great that you're working on a Caravaggio study.

One thing I would be happy to do (if you like) is to include the reference which you posted of the Caravaggio painting in the most recent OFDW, OFDW 016. Then if you wanted to work in a group setting where you would get more feedback, you could. That's totally up to you, though!

One minor thing, if you wouldn't mind keeping posts to 800 pix wide or less, that would mean less scrolling.

It would be great to see you push the DSG study further, and to take it beyond the time limitation. I look forward to seeing your Master Study develop, it's a great piece to copy!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Nice sketches. I draw during lessons too, who doesn't? Great 15 minute speedpaint. I especially like the upper head in the second sketch, planning to push it more further,m? No?

Cyanid,

I am agreement with Enrique ~ there is something just right about the way you've done the hand. Nice work!

Cheers,

Cyanid,

I love the direction you're exploring with brushstrokes ~ nice work. I would encourage you to put form over brushstroke and color, however ~ once you've gotten a good first pass down with your basic colors and brushstrokes, I would suggest trying to refine your pieces and really nail the form, as you have done so nicely with your hand study. I think sometimes there is more emphasis placed on speed than final product ~ really try to re~evaluate your work as you go and tweak things to the same degree of perfection as you would do with a purely 'form' study.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak
