Camera WiP - Color question!

This a painting I am working from a picture that my friend took of me holding a camera. Basically I've been eyedropping from the colors in the picture and I thought it looked ok, but then when I looked at it on my dad's computer the colors looked horrible bland. I know it just might be that he has a cheap monitor, but I'd love some feedback/suggestions on what I can do with this painting and whether the colors look alright to you. Thanks!

Here's a closeup of the face/hands, I'm still not done with this part obviously I plan on doing more detail and maybe some more intense color if needed.

And here's the reference photo:

Hi

Im not sure bu i think in photoshop there is a button under image adjustments called autocolor
Try it! its magic. If its not the right button then play with the image adjustments a bit

Ok thanks I'll try that If all else fails I can always use the burn tool which is something I like doing. Thanks for your advice!

Well it looks neat so far. I guess you can never play too much with color.. Don't be afraid to add other colors in shadows or highlights, unless you are going for something exactly like the picture your friend took.

Maybe some very, very faint green tint at the tip of the finger, color reflecting from the camera?

Hello - looks very nice so far I can't suggest anything except to keep working up the colour and tone in the skin in the way you have been doing, and create some good texture. One thing is that it looks like your reference is a little overexposed; I'd take care not to copy the colours too closely unless you want the same look.

Thanks everybody for the helpful comments! Here is an updated image. I haven't done anything more with the hand/facial skin colors, I plan on doing that and more detail at the end. I started on the shirt but I decided to make it gray since I really don't feel at attempting tie-dye right now

I originally was going to make a vector-style image from this picture, but I decided to just paint it instead and that's why you can see some of the lines I haven't erased yet that I am using for a guide.
