Lancear's WIP page

Just the start of a picture Probably the closests thing i've come to realism. Lots n' lots of stuff to do with it.

I've done anime art ever since I can remember. I kinda wish I didn't because well.. realism is more challenging and fun to me. Man.. I really hate the hair lol.. I got to fix that.
On a side note~ I wasted a lot of years drawing not looking at things(not using references) to see how they look I just tried to figure it out on my own. Which was a huge mistake so i recommend the younger members of cg to never do that. ;x

When I draw more pictures/do more on this one i'll update it.

Any and all comments welcome~ I really want to become a better artist to make up for lost time.

lol, almost forgot, my monitor is really old so I can't see colors the way they actually look.. so forgive me. XD

Hey, that's pretty neat. I really like your brushstrokes, and the way you do countours. It is reminiscent of Degas... though that may just be because it is a nude back, and his pastels of bathing women are some of my favorites. So, I say yours is also very nice.

You might make the shadow color more saturated; desaturated darks when mixed with lighter colors appear dull, and contrast poorly, in my opinion; the bright orange, for example, which you may or may not see with your monitor, outlining her right bicep and left underarm, is more attractive.

There are things to say regarding light and shadow that involve warm versus cool appearances, but I haven't practiced much color theory beyond complimentary hues, so I don't really know what to say. Heh, but it's cool you're practicing different styles, I admire that.
The whole world wide, every day, fly Hugin and Munin;
I worry lest Hugin should fall in flight, yet more I fear for Munin.

I tally know what you mean about anime and not referencing things from life. Thank goodness I had my mom and some friends yell at me and tell me to study anatomy and things. Or else, I wouldn't have improved as much as I have.

It looks very nice so far to me. The only thing that seems to get me is the abundance of warm colors. What kind of background will there be? Is she in a warm colored bathroom? Against the white background the colors are just overwhelming. I would suggest adding some cool colors in there or toning down the oranges.

I think for just beginning to do realism this is very good and close to the mark - the only thing I would say isn't really reading correctly is the deep shadow to the left of her breast - it wouldn't go down so far to look like a cavity there. A woman's breast, even smaller like the one you have drawn, will still attach to the side of her body from that angle, and so there wouldn't be a dark intense shadow there at all.

If you break it coming off the shadow at the top of her breast (where her arm makes the shadow) that would improve it. There really isn't a cavity there beside the breast

I like her pose though, it looks natural and believable

I am not a specialist of painting's body...
For a beginning, it looks cool
2 comments : The neck seems to large for me, and maybe could you curve the back (too large too). Maybe, that the thorax cage (?) is not enough up, but as I said i am not specialist.
Hope I am clear with my English...
It's a good beginning!!
