CgTalk Daily Sketch 647 THE 45 MINUTE SKETCH: "Billy the Kid"

OK we are going to do AN EXPERIMENT for the next few days...

You have 45, (count them 45!) minutes to do your sketch. The idea is that at the end of those 45 minutes you have to post your sketch in whatever form it is.
So bring out your sketcbook, and your watch, ill be watching you!

The idea of this exercise is to build up speed m so you may post as many DIFFERENT sketches as you want.

And by the way, to keep people in their toes, I will vary the LENGHT of time.

"Billy the Kid"
by
rani

We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

-Roberto

Photoshop - 32 min. Had to cut it short because my pet goat was getting tired of holding the pose.

edit: Ah okay JTD, I didn't have 'display images' on, so I thought it was the custom here to just post links, my bad.

Good character iuvo. Next time you post, look at the formatting toolbar. There is a little yellow square (with brown mountains and a dot) to the left of the # symbol. Click it and then put the url for your image in the dialog box that pops up. Click okay. We should then be able to see your picture in the thread.

Like this (this is iuvo's picture, not mine).

You know how in the Olde West, they took pictures of captured or killed outlaws? Or aftermaths of shootouts? That's what's going on here.

ProCreate Painter Classic + Wacom + 46 min.

EDIT: Grrrrrrr, Photobucket.com is really pissing me off lately. All my recent pictures have been automatically shrunk, even though they're under 512 kb, and they look much better bigger. Do any of you know what's going on? Thanks.

Thought I'd give it a whirl, it was supposed to be a babies head and and adult body, but the body is too small i think. Looks kinda Elmer Fuddish

Can't...stop....sketching

Painted a bit different than I usually do, started with a brownish background and only added a bit of color, and kept the look comic-like/sketchy.

Well I like it, was fun to paint.

Hi there

Well I almost didn't post this, but heck..
I just started playing with Artrage and keep trying
to get comfortable with the digital medium..

Anyhow it's "about" 45 mins done on a borrowed slowwww computer.
Also I don't have my tablet here so it's a mouse sketch.
This would take under 15 mins on paper, probably with better results

Cheers.

This is my first time on the daily sketch group, let's see if I got the rules right I set my alarm clock to 15 minutes and started throwing paint around Photoshop.. the guy on the right looks horrible cause I was just starting on him when the alarm rang - I knew I had to do very simple image in order to finish in 15 minutes but I was way off in my estimate, I wanted at least 10 cowboys on the background but managed to do 3 and a half hehe

No, you have 45 minutes for this sketch.
The 15 minutes Roberto mentioned for the 'next sketch' is meant for tomorrow.

So feel free give it another 30 minutes.

Somehow I managed to also think this was a 20 minute sketch. There must be something in the water today.

OK, a confession - I took 50 minutes to do this, fully consious of it. Once I started the shading I HAD to finnish it to keep the style and to stay consistent... yes I broke the rules for art's sake!!! What? That's right.

Anyways, I hope to actually finnish this later because I really like it. I'm gonna have branch and leave shading on everything, I really think that would round it out.

Timo Vihola - Welcome, and aloha!! Ofcourse, again, you had way more time. But what you did in 15 is really good, you did alot in that time! I like the character and it's a funny idea. I look forward to seeing more or your stuff.

ProCreate Painter Classic + 50 min. + Wacom
