Arrow Siddharta: "The Buddha"

Hey there...
This Sunday I started a sketch of Buddha. This is the 1st 2D digital painting I have done in my life, so I dont know much about the technique, etc. I hope you can help me.
This is so far what I have done.
I want to have red, orange, rose colours on it...with a lot of lotus petals, and that type of things.
The face and all the body its gonna have more details, dont worry.
Please feel free and post your comments!!!

Hey, thanks djtrousdale! its cool to recieve good news!
This is an update I did yesterday...Right now, I am starting the cloak¿ (This Lotus flowers are gonna have more details, and a proper shadow)

By the way...I think the head is too big, dont you think?

Wow! That looks really cool, Juan! And it looks even better when thinking that this is your first real digi-2D stuff! It looks that you have applied some very cool anatomy and figure drawing! Didn't you follow that thread about 'painting muscles and all that stuff'?

By the way I don't think the head would be too big. For now it looks just perfect!

Congratulations on the shading! Your image really got some nice depth. What are you 2D-experiences before: did you do something with the traditional media before?

Greetz & Good luck on further development!

Hey, Thanks for your support Dutchman! I dont know that thread, but I would be really pleased if I could look over it...lets see if I can find it. traditional media...I like drawing, and I have done some canvas works.

I did this yesterday....and remember to post your comments

the biggest problem is that each later seems too flat. it's very clear looking at the final piece where the layers are because of this, and because the edges are too perfect. Basically you need more shadows.
  02 February 2006

Yeah, dont worry, I know, but I wouldnt like to put the shadow until the end...basically because I may put more thinks in it and I am working with layers, so I dont want to flat them right now...

I hope this isn't too late, but it looks to me that his right shoulder seems like it is raised too high - it looks sorta stiff.

Good job on the anatomy though! (i'm hooorrible at anatomy...)

Thanks Ninetales, yeah I notice the prob with the shoulder...I will try to solve it.

The latest update

Hello there!

I really like this "budha", I love the mosculature and anatomy work, although I think that is head looks to straight, the upper line of the head have a rispid lines, too hard i think, try too smooth a bit.
I think the background would be more interesting, if he was in the middle of a forest near water, or near is monastery in the mountains or something, instead of being just in the sky.
And I think the orange of the robe, and the pinky sky don't feat too well.

But overall I like it, keep going.
