Diego,

It's great to see you get your thread started! Unfortunately, I can't look at your work atm as I'm at work, but definitely looking forward to taking a gander later on.

Great to see you here, and I think yours will be an exciting thread to follow!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Diego,

No prob! Do you know David (redehlert) of conceptart? He has a thread here too, excellent work ~ definitely check it out! Arctis and Martin (erilaz) also have threads ~ wish I could convince bumskee! Extremely talented dude, very humble! Maybe you can lean on him a bit.

Cheers!

Diego,

I should mention that I would love if you would participate in our OFDWs ~ the current one just started yesterday, it's here:

Open Figure Drawing Workshop with Ron Eyre, Hong Ly and Rebeccak 011
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=308057

My friend Hong Ly you may know from his website, www.characterdesigns.com ~ he provides many of the excellent photos for the OFDWs. There are a lot of great artists who partcipate, and it would be great to have you join us.

You may draw, paint, or sculpt, digitally or traditionally.

Links to all OFDWs can be found here:

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Diego,

Cool, finally have gotten a chance to look at your studies at greater length.

Firstly ~ very nice work! I can see that you're quite serious about drawing, and it will be good to see how your work progresses.

Why don't you tell us a bit about your background and training? How long have you been
drawing, and what would you say is the drawing 'method' that you most like to follow / have been taught? Also, do you paint in any digital or traditional medium / media? These are all things that would be intresting to find out!

One thing I might recommend that you do if you have not already is master studies ~ either from master drawings or from Renaissance sculptures. I think this would help tremendously in your figuring out different volumes ~ while life drawing is an excellent activity, I often think that doing master copies speeds one's understanding of human form along significantly. It is great to see the Hogarth studies, but I think that drawings done from masters like Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, etc., can significantly help you to grow as an artist. After all, in terms of figurative representation, they were some of the best.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Hi Rebeccak, let's see, I started drawing at 18, i use to draw like a day per week, not too much, but i always loved to draw and i can say that i started drawing anime and that kind of stuff, then i was really into the basics, like perspective, anatomy, lifedrawing, so i had in my mind that i should been doing that stuff in order to get better.
Then I found Concept Art and get really inspired, but i didn't draw too much, , but i learned a lot by reading, about what I needed to do, so i started to get serious about it, and i think I made some progress looking at my previous sketchbooks.
I really like figurative art, so i would like to study in deep the figure, anatomy, structure. And translate that knowledge to the imaginative drawings, or concept drawings.

I've paint in acrylics and oils but not too much, and not too often so i can say that i don't know how to paint properly, I want to. And no digital for me, no wacom.

I did a lot of master studies, michelangelo, leonardo, raphael, pontormo, caravaggio, J. L David, Ingres. I would like to do some prou'dhon studies, but i have no good images.

Well, that's pretty much about me Hope you like it.

Diego,

Thanks for sharing that about your background.

Not to be too nosy, but are you currently an art student ~ or is art something you do on your own?

If you are interested in doing further master copies, which I highly recommend, check out the Master Draughtsman series of books ~ these are great because they are cheap, lightweight, and you can copy from them without worrying about ruining them. I didn't see Prud'hon, however in the collection ~ however, there are numerous other great artists from whom to make great copies.

I think it would be cool if you posted new master studies here were you to do some ~ I really think that they would help you to improve significantly. You have the chops to tackle tough master drawings...it would be cool to see how far you could take your copies in terms of getting them to resemble the originals.

Just a thought. What types of exercises do you do now ~ eg, is everything done for class, or for something which you determine for yourself?

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Hey RebeccaK, yes I'm a student but I'm majoring in sculpture, so i draw for myself. The excercises I do are the basics, lifedrawing, common stuff i find in my home like forniture, objects, my family, quick gestures of people outside, anatomy studies, structure studies.
I'd really like to do some studies of rubens or watteau, so maybe i'll do some of these.
Thanks for the interest.

sh@ke - thanks man, you're very kind.

Diego,

We'd love to see some images of your sculpture! Is it figurative, I assume? Also, we do have a sculpture thread here, although it's likely best to keep all of your images together in one place.

Hmm, the sculpture thing explains that you are so methodical...it's nice to have a sculptor aboard, wish we had more!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak
