LWO with multiple layers, each with its own UV texture map.

This is probably related to how other apps support the lwo file format.. but here goes:

In Lightwave 7.5c, I have an lwo using 2 layers.

Layer 1 : Humany body with a UV texture mapped on the body.
Layer 2 : Hair / wig with a UV texture mapped on the polygon hair model.

Problem: I load the lwo with 2 layers up in Messiah (heck, even in Modo) and the UV texture maps do not show up.

If I keep both the body and the polygon hair in ONE layer, then the UV texture maps do show up in Messiah (and Modo).

Why does this happen?

Should I avoid using UV's in multiple layers when importing the LWO file format in other apps like Messiah (and modo?)

Simplify things.
Get rid of layers and have two separate objects.

Personally, I never use layers. They cause more trouble than their benefit.
