Sketchbook Thread of AAAaaaarctisssss

Hi,

Since it's a new habit to open a personal anatomy thread... here's mine.

Let's start with a few copies - almost the only ones I've ever done -, made 10 year ago while attempting for my school. These are pastels, copies of Man Ray's portraits, and one is the famous "kiss" by Auguste Rodin.

Bye

Hi
Arctis
Great to see you have your own thread...
Your work has always inspired me, and challanged me to do better with my own.
Your character with the pipe and staff, showed me just how far digital art could be taken
to creat realism with rendering in paint, color, and texture. It was one of the first paintings
I saw, when I fist started doing digital, and is still one of my favorites. I still remember the
first comment I got on my dragons face, it was from you..went something like,... ....interesting..
Made me smile,, and also gave me hope, and a will to continue, seeing how it was from
someone with such great talent, and from someone who's work I REALLY ADMIRE...
Anyway, I just wanted to say THANKS...
Your thread looks great so far, and I am looking forward to seeing more, as you add to it.
I also have my own thread here now, thanks to Rebecca, a great person, and teacher.
Take a look at it, when you get some time, and if you feel like it, let me know what you
think. I really value your opinion, and take your advice seriously.
Take Care
Glenn

Hi,

Twifler: hey, here's more !

Spirit dreamer : wow, thanks I'll take a look at your thread, though I know you've made some real good anatomy studies.

By the way, here's some picture from the book of african tale I previously talk about on some other occasion. I found an editor for it - and a good one -, so it's gonna be my first book to be released, and I hope it won't be the last...
Because it has to be done in a short time, I've been very busy, but now it's near the end. It will be released in march 2006, so here's some abandoned pictures for those who don't know it already.
Hope you'll enjoy

Such beautiful work ~ I really love your unique style. Congratulations on the book!!! I, for one, will be wanting a signed copy.

Great stuff...what did you mean by abandoned work? o_O

Cheers,

Hi Rebekka, the "forum's soul",

These pictures were left behind because they were disturbing the global rythm of the narration.
When I first presented them the project, I've done some illustrations to show them my style, but it was only after they said "yes", that I had the possibility to work with one of their graphist... Graphism is a real job by itself : working with a professional taught me A LOT about how a children book is made.

Thanks, Arctis. Your style certainly lends itself to children's books perfectly ~ your work is rare in it's richness and in it's ability to capture the imagination. Best of luck with the publication, and my hope is that it becomes a series!!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

LOL......indeed!! I suggest appeasing the publications gods with the hint of lots of CGTalkers being potentially interested in the book. Let me know when it's out!

Cheers,

Hi Arctis....
GREAT NEWS...Your book... And let me be #2, to ask you for a signed copy,... Seriously...
I would really treasure it. Let me know the details about shipping and expense ect. when
It's ready.
Too bad that second painting you have posted above didn't get in your book, really nice
composition, lighting, and mood in that one. The other ones are also nice too, but that one is
my favorite of the four.
Thanks also for checking out my thread, and your valued opinion...Funny...Rebecca has
been telling me the same thing, about useing too many special effects for months now.
Gradually weaning myself off of them...hard habit to break...
Anyway congratulations on your book again, and I hope it sells like crazy...
Take Care
Glenn

Hi all !

Been a while since last time and the forum has grown a lot ... I'm quite impressed by what's posted here.

I've restarting life drawing, though I've never been interested in it before, but watching at great studies and passionated people is a strong motivation.

Please, help me to progress by giving me advices on my little drawings.

here's a first load, made at the Louvre. I tried here a new technique, with bolder blacks (the clearer drawing was made earlier than the others, I post it for comparison.)
