Civilization 4 - Cinematic Models

Hey everyone,

I spent most of the summer doing work on the Wonder movies for Civilization 4. Now that it has been released, I thought it would be cool to share some of my work. These are all high poly models that were used in the "Wonder" videos. I modelled and textured them all, except for the Taj Mahal, which I only textured.

Enjoy!

(Hopefully this isnt too much images... ive compressed them quite well, so it shouldnt be a problem.)

really neat work, one thing bothers me though, the roof on the first model, the library. it would leak like a bugger, cos the tiles are all wrong, they should over lap, the tile next a bowed one should be convex and so on, so the crosssection should be like a sine wave.

doesnt really matter, but bothered me.

Very nice models man, the textures seem a bit simple but it doesn't really matter, nice job!

those look great, i wonder whz the actual render videos in the game have such a poor quality themselves.

Great work, curious ....how did you do the relief work on the parthenon? did you actually model all that in like zbrush or something or is it some sort of bump map?

Very nice, uvmapping and texturing must have been quite a challenge, although it seems a lot of textures are repeated.

Slick work nonetheless, frontpage material.

Excellent work! I had to make a Taj Mahal for the new MS Flight Sim, I feel your pain Question - did you feel a certain amount of stress/pressure to do an extra good job on these seeing as how they are famous Wonders?

Well maybe people doesnt know this but the taj mahal towers lean a little bit from the main buildning. The engineers did that because they were afraid that it might fall on the buildning.

Good stuff nevertheless.

The library's roof looks much better now than your last screenshot on TPC though the tiles are really big. Great work !

wow, some really nice stuff, yea have to agree about the tiles, and maybe the relife on the main building, around the bottom is a tad big too, for the size of it all, but really nice work, man i wish i had time for this one.... might have to squeeze it into the schedule. Ah the battle of the rts art! nicely done sir.

I agree about the tiles. The images of the library posted here are a bit older than the ones seen in the game. The version of the model seen in the videos has MUCH smaller tiles and line up better and overlap more, giving the building itself a bigger sense of scale.
