WIP - creature to crit . . .

Here is my latest work... before anyone ask: i used some "Star Wars" movies for reference But the creature has its own personality - i hope !!

great work man. maybe you could ad some muscle deformation in the cheek area for the different expressions, i think he will then have a lot more expression in it.

Wow. This little creature has got a lot of character. Maybe you could put eyebrows on him to emphasis his brow expressions. Heh, I can't stop staring at him.

Hey Bassit - this little guy is awesome. Extremely cute yet menacing too. You know, I think this guy looks like he belongs in a movie! He really is very very cool. Great work!
The only crit I can give is that I think his mouth needs a bit of work - I'm not sure what it is about it that bugs me, it just doesn't seem to look right. Otherwise, brilliant character!

First of all: thanks for the comments & compliments ! That gives me a lot of power to go further.

DWIEMER: I will try to add some more muscles... maybe it brings more life to him !

somlor: You could be right: the area above the eyes could really need some detail ! But i am not sure if he will loose his cutiness if i give him some bushy brows... but ill try something

Leigh: Yes, there is something wrong with that mouth... but i dont know what ! Maybe i should change the color of his lips ?!

Anyway im actually thinking about what body would fit this little thing... a two-legged human-like or a four-legged pet-body ? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome !!

maybe you could give him 3 legs, 2 in the front, 1 thicker leg in the back.

Suggestions on the mouth: It looks like it's stuck on the head - almost like a beak.

Maybe bring the chin forward?

Maybe less of an indent under the nose?

It looks like a cat - maybe try a cat-like mouth?

Cool creature. Cute yet kinda scary. Like those little dinosaurs in Jurassic 2 that were in packs and would swarm their prey.

Again - just suggestions. I would be happy with anything near this!!
I got a sweater for christmas .... I wanted a moaner or a screamer.

Funny!!! Cute and still scary. With the wiskers he looks like a mouse/cat hybrid genetically engineered on the x-files. Give him a furry tail with retractable claws and you'll be all set!

its good
but you better use soft shadow
and work more on texture detail
and little fur
good luck

Ive played around with the lightning... thanks maya_death, for that hint...

As you can see ive completely redone the iris (much higher resolution) - i will also raise the resolution of the head-textures to add some little details

Oh, before i forgot: That furry tail and some retractable claws seems to be a great idea - i will defenitly add them Especially that fur would be a challenge for me - ive never done this before.

And here is another image:

ive worked a bit on emotions, but i need heaps of morph-targets to bring him to life.

And here is a BIG wallpaper for those who need one:

Short facial test . . .

Ive played around a bit with the 10 different morph-targets i have now (ive also animated the nose-holes). Maybe you want to have a look at it ?

Did you get inspiration from Menithing's, "The Freak"?

Old 02 February 2002   #14
No, kyphur ! And the freak doesnt look cute to me... he looks strange and is not even close to my creature ! Do you need glasses - just kidding

Ive made a blocky body for this creature... thats the shape he should look like !

It would be great to get some comments because its the second human-like body ive ever created , so i really need some critique.

Thanks & have a nice day !
