Talking Zoom....

I just upgraded my CPU from an athlon 64 3000 to an athlon 64 3800 X2 dual core and was hopin gto get close to 2x the performance because of the overhead of using multiple cpus (or cores in this case). I used the first big slow project I could find (simulation_explosion_cloud) and rendered it out itht he 3000 at a time of 23:55.08 then I removed the cpu and installed the dual core and rendered it out again and got 11:19.73! More than twice as fast! WooHoo!

Yeah, i know what you mean! When i got my 4400+(from P4 3.0) I noticed a huge speedup. Something else i've noticed is that final gathering is rendering so fast for me now, maybe thats just something to do with version 5's speed increases. In my case it is rendering faster than the included ambient occlusion shader.
