new polymeshes always hidden

I've got a scene that I've been working on and now when I add a polymesh the new mesh is automatically hidden and I can't unhide it.

In the explorer the object is marked with a gray "H" not the yellow "H" and pressing H does not unhide the object.

Anyone know what I did to cause this to happen and how can I change it?

Check that you don't have visibility turned off on the current active layer.

you may also have 3d mesh unchecked in visibility options

Check current layer visibility or current render pass partition visibility...or if its part of a group, check the group visibility as well.

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the info, it was a layer visibility issue.

My previous software did not have layer support and so until a couple of days ago I never touched them in XSI.
