Talking * Political Satire : PSA for the NRA *

"PSA for the NRA" (December 2004)
(Public Service Announcement for the National Rifles Association)

My fellow classmates and I from the Digital Animation program at Capilano College in North Vancouver, British Columbia, produced a group project last December as a school assignment. This was created after only three months of school, with a time limit of three weeks from start of concept to finish. Each of us had a hand in designing, modeling, lighting and animating a scene. It was definately a fun project to work on, of course it helped having very talented teammates who each put in a lot of work and did excellent jobs.

To comment on my input, as the style is set in the 60s, I created the robot character based on my research of several B grade movie robots of that time. He represents non-american products that George Bush junior is terrified of, with a sign on his side saying: "Not made in the USA!".

So to download this film in .mov format, right click and save as the link:

The short is hilarious seeing there is a message behind it. The animation is good for being cartoony appropriate with the B&W theme, therefore a good job done!

Awesome. :-) You did a really good job of keeping with the style of those old public service announcements.

Norl & Cessen: Thank you for the compliments ! Glad you got a laugh from it It was made cartoony as we limited ourselves to a week modeling/texturing/designing all the characters and wanted to make them easy to animate. Also we didn't want to make the mistake of groups in the past of over-complicating the short, thus running out of time to make a completed product.

I hope this is just a joke and not attacking the right to carry.

Great animation and story line! The robot is my favorite and I love the grainy old movie effect. Good job!
