How to learn the style

Can someone point me to a tutorial or a book to buy to learn the style of screenwriting for film or cartoon episodes ?

Thanks a lot.

You can take a look at Gardner's Guide to Animation Scriptwriting: The Writer's Road Map

It's a book about writing for animation series like the Simpsons. It has some usefull rules and tips in it.

Everything in TV is about the format. It is a half-hour or one hour show? Is it for a comersial or a public network? IS it comedy, drama or even tragedy. If you want to write for TV learn your formats well. A comesila half-hour is aproximatly 24 minutes and the page count should equal that. A comecial hour is aprox. 45 minutes.

Half-huor shows are built up in two act and an hour has four. These are strictly governed by the comercials. A good book to pick up would be Madeline Dimaggio's How to write for Television.

It is a lot to go through to explain exactly how you would go about your specific story without knowing genre, arena, trap, and format. Is it an episode for an existing show or are you going to write your own bible?

Basically a story is comprised of at least two separate stories that might or might not merge at the end. One story (the A-story) is the ones wich govern the acts and then you have stories for all your main characters (B-stories) to flesh out relationships and backstories.

Look at the simpsons for example. All the simpsons (except maggie) usually drive a story of theie own. One of the stories are usually larger and the whole family might be involved.

Hope this helps a littel.
