low poly

hello im doing low poly modeling for a car game and i have a question what (for a car) is considerd low poly (how many polygons)
My current WIP

first off ask your programmer (they prefer engineer, but they're programmers) what they think the engine is going to be able to pump out in the way of polygons. then decide how you will budget out that number (remember knock it down 15% to be safe for starters, you can add detail if it can handle more). then divide up that amount between your level, characters (which can be your car), and scene objects, might set aside a few faces for ui.

a lot depends on your game engine and what platform your going to run on, and if you'll need multi player support.

a low poly model could range from 300 to 3000 polygons based on the above.

first find out what your poly budget is mr d.
