Master and Servant 2D Entry: Zhu Xun

Zhu Xun has entered the Master and Servant 2D.

Challenge Page

Latest Update: Final Image: Finished

It's finally finished. Here is a complete discription of this picture: This is a large factory. The character sitting on the floating chair is the manager and the only human here. The big robots was used to maintain the machines in the factory and do some manufactural works. Now the master is programming the servant for its following job with a laptop on his legs. They are connected by several data cables.

Thanks again for all who encouraged and adviced me during this challenge:)

Concept Sketch: Observer/Servant/The City

Hi everyone, glad to join this contest. This is my conceptual sketch.I'm currently considering adding more big characters in the background city scene to make it more dramatic. And I'm thinking more about the appearance of the man and the robot too.

Concept Sketch: concept of the master

The enviorment in my opinion would be full of machines. So I'm trying to make the character look different from the background and the servant robot, and the goblet in his hand would be the key to the relationship of the master and the servant.

Line Art: line art

I changed my earlier idea of the picture. The small character in the middle is the manager of this factory and of course the master of the robots. But he seems too small and the theme maybe hard to express. Anyway, I would work on the coloring and see if I could solve this problem.

Lovely drawing. It shows a good development. Have you stopped working on it? Time is against us. have you seen the work of Moebius? He draws for Metal Hurlant and I think you will like his work.

Thanks. I won't update my work frequently so that it might seems stopped. I'd like each update to show a visible development. It's not stopped. I'm now considering lighting and coloring. Though not much time left, I'm sure I could finish it in time. I haven't seen the work of Moebius before. I think I was mainly affected by anime and traditional Chinese paintings.

Coloring WIP: Character added

The work on the robot and the enviorment has almost finished. The following work is the master. But now he seems to be too close to the bottom of the picture. I'd better find a way to solve this......Maybe let him sitting on the chair floating in the air?

Final Coloring: almost there

I slightly changed the composition of the picture. The master finally got a special chair to help himself floating in the air. Of course the bridge was eliminated. Just left some work on the lighting and the details......

Interssant one. I didn't see it before. Like your colors. I think that there something to do on the master cause he seems to have less details that the robot/machine.
Anyway original idea. Keep it up
