Concept Sketch: style direction

hi
this was a night club flyer i did for a night club in bournemouth england. its a matte with a couple of lo res jpegs that i had to paint over to give it a kind of 1920's style, hence the kind of retro jacket i painted on op. i was thinking about doing a painting along these lines stylee wise with a mobster, only the head mobster being a sexy woman in pinstripe costume propped up against a bar with one of her henchman gangsters lighting her cigarette. only the mobster would be a man, looking very nervous and shaky, as if he should be in conntrol, but in fact the dame is the one in control. any suggestions woould be much appreciated.

I really want to give it a severely hardcore ott style.

mike

p.s. linda berqvist is going to be a strong influence for me here cos she is such a legend at painting beautiful ladies

my story

thanks w!l. look forward to seeing your new entry.

i think i have a story. there will be a mob of gangsters. their leader will be a woman. my composition will be the woman standing at the bar while her right hand woman lights her cigarette. meanwhile the male henchmen will be blowing the bar to pieces with tommyguns.

the right hand woman may be a man. the two main figures will be the focal point, with one of the remaining downlights next to the bar coming down on them. all around will be destruction and chaos, although she will never be in danger. it may sound vague but i have a lot of subtle plans to make the relationship between the mob and her right hand man/woman strong.

The mob will all be dressed in the same stylised outfits so that they all seem together, while any remaining bodies etc will be in stylised evening wear of the twenties.

the idea that i will need to convey is that this is some sort of opposing club owned by another gangster and the leader of the womans mob will be watching calmly as her henchman blow it away.

any suggestions at such a vague and early stage would be really helpful

mike

Sounds very interesting, I'd like to see what you'll do with this idea! Best of luck, too!
