'post bumping'

This may sound like a bad idea at first, but if I explain perhaps it will make more sense.

Some threads can get really, really, long. Often times a question finally gets answered right on page 2, but posts continue for pages. Many people don't actually read the whole thing and then post after reading maybe the first page. Things can get really redundant. The idea is, that the thread starter only could bump posts he/she considers important up to the first page. Then some kind of indication would be put by them that says they've been bumped. Then people reading can get more of a summary of responses and not waste reading hundreds of redundant posts. There shouldn't be any abuse if only the thread starter can bump. What do you think?
