Animation Demo Reel + Lipsync for 10 sec club~

Hi, folks~
I'm graduating next month and looking for a character animator job now.
Here's my first demo reel which consists of my graduate film
and a bunch of in-class-projects.
I need some feedbacks, guys~
(maybe it's too long?? or pencil tests don't look professional??)

**Note: Please save target in your hard drive to play movies smoothly.

Also a lipsync for 10 second club that I submitted for this month.
(I did this because I felt like there's not much lipsync going on in my reel.)

Feel free to criticize~ Thank you and enjoy!

Cool

i think the 10 sec club animation is very nice and fluid. however, i think the 3d work at the beginning of your demo reel could be alot more smooth. some of the motions dont seem natural or timed correctly. i did like the 2d looking stuff in the middle, that was nice. just keep tweaking some of the stuff but its on the right track. feel free to crtiique my stuff if you like. www.digitalflavor.net

Thank you for your critics, Bob~
I agree with you...maybe I should tweak it a little bit more
to get smoother motion...and put the 2D-looking graduate film first in my reel.
Thanks again for your feedbacks~

I didn't like the demo real much for the same reasons as BobDigital.

The 10 second club animation was great, I loved it when he pulled out the axe. I thought the facial expressions and the reactions were great. One thing bugged me, but I can't quite place it. When the guy on the left falls down, it's good on the whole, but it feels like something is missing, but I'm not sure what. :( I think it's that slight pause where he has 0 motion right before that makes it feel kind of wrong.

Good work though, I liked it. Where is the sound for the 10 second clip thing from?

Thanks for your advice, Virum~
Now I kinda get that my first demo reel is not quite working for anybody.
It's a little bit sad, but absolutely good to know.
I really gotta do something with it.

For the 10 sec club animation, maybe the moving-hold, right before
he falls down, doesn't work for you.
I'll consider that in mind.
BTW, you can get the sound file from 10 sec website below,

Thanks again, Virum~

Don't get too discouraged man. The stuff in the 10secondclub challenge is much, much better than your demo real; you have the skill, but make a few stuff. In fact, I'd say that the 10 sec should be in your next demo real.

I'm not really qualified to give animation advice myself, I'm just starting to try to learn it after failing miserably in modeling/texturing AND dynamics. :P It's actually going pretty well for now.

Like I said, I do like the quick fall down, the timing just seems off I guess. But I do like it, just a bit of tweaking maybe. You'd be better off taking advice from a seasoned animator here IMHO.

Thanks man!

No problem. Hope to see some great stuff from you in the future.

Cool

i agree. maybe take the approach that i did for my demo reel; combine some of your best "10 second animations" into one reel. its the best way to show character animation in a short clip of time. keep up the good work man

Hi

You've got some cool stuff in there, but I thought it was much too long....... the very start has some funny stuff with the guy talking in two voices and jumping to the other side of the screen. But then the barking dog sound is soooooooo annoying, I'd take that out or redub it.

Then the graduate film, which is very cool but you don't need the whole thing on your reel....

I would also take out the trampoline piece, its nowhere near as good as the rest of the animation and theres no need for it.

Then the 2d stuff at the end is awesome, definitley some of the best stuff on there.... and the music over that bit is perfect.
