Loose painting in photopaint, no reference, from a pencil line drawing.

This is as done as it is going to get! Thanks for all the tips, and the encouragement. And thanks to dyronamics over at tip media for the wing tips. I like how it finally came out!

in painter and photopaint.

The main thing I would chage would be some parts of the face. The profile in my opinion is a little too concave, and the nose a tad bit too high. Also bring the ear closer to eye level, is too low on the cheek at the moment. Maybe do a little work on the wings, they dont seem to blend with the body, which I think is overall fine. Also maybe change the position of the right foot, seems like its bent in an awkward position.

thanks man, your crits were RIGHT ON!

I knew the nose was a bit high..but wow what a difference it makes.

fixed some parts of the arm, shading on posterior, etc., and blended the neck a bit. I don't think the attempt at blending the wings went overly well. I will have to go back and draw in some tendons or something if I feel like continuing this one.

Her facial profile still seems off. I would also work on the forehead and nose. Both seem too big. A small nose on a female will give her a more elegant look.

Man, that wing color has got to be toned down, its competing with the whole image. When I quickly glance at (a good way to tell how your composition is working) her, I see WINGS then undergarments. The contrast is very heavy here and needs a bit of toning down. It probably stems from working on a pure white (whiter than paper) background. Not trying to be overly critical but personally I abhore white backgrounds in nearly any image. I have a few I've done, but I typically break it up with a faded graphic image of effect. Keep working

thanks think that is about as far as I am going with this one.

Nice progress there :]

The first thought I'm having is that it's very poorly cropped. The foot that's been chopped off really draws my attention and it feels as if though it's been left outside because you couldn't finish it. The image feels cramped and smushed because the wings are chopped off, too, and the knee touches the border.

Secondly, the colours feel... well, I guess I'd say 'weird'. The skin is a little to pink and the blue of the wings and the background really eats up too much of the picture's appeal.

What I'd do if I were you, would be not to give up when you've come this far: make the canvas larger, work a bit on the colours, and just keep at it until it feels right. Dropping a project at this state won't really teach you anything :]

Keep at it - and good work. If you'd like, and you make a new version, I'd be glad to do an overpaint to show some other ways I think you could improve it :]

lol, very well...I guess I will work with it more

Like said, the face needs a little work as does the anatomy, I suggest you do a similar pose and have someone take a picture. It really does help and leads to a great outcome!

Great colours and awesome idea!

keep it up

Changed the skin tones a bit, firmed up the wings, now I need to do some highlights on them to get them a bit lighter, but I finished them out. I still need to paint the rest of the left foot, and will probably redo the other foot.

If I am going to put more effort into it I think I will expand the canvas even more and make a background scene that she is looking at to the left, receding into that corner.

Hm....photo..will think that over.
