Cinema 4D 9 Tutorial Manual?

I recently purchased C4D 9 Core. Rather than constantly asking questions about xpresso I thought I would actually dive in and try and learn it first!!

Anyway opening the manual to the expresso section, I get to this bit

"To learn Xpresso as quickly as possible, we recommend you work through the tutorials in the Cinema4D Tutorial manual"

Ok, that's great but err where is it? I have the tutorial C4D for the duck race but nothing about Xpresso, am I looking in the wrong place?

If anyone knows where the Xpresso tutorials are please let me know.

Dont you mean the Quickstart Tutorials? The printed version should be included when you purchased R9. It only contains one very basic Xpresso tutorial. The PDF-version is found at the Maxon site.

Hmm, not sure, just went back through the installation cd and there is an expresso directory there with some examples. I was only referring to what the manual says and it does say Cinema4D Tutorial Manual. Maybe it was left in from an older version. The manuals aren't printed there on a cd but I couldn't find that one.

Hi Jon,
seems we messed up a bit.
Please use this link to download the R8 PDF tutorial. It contains additional 30 pages of tutorials for Xpresso that are missing from the R9 documentation.
Also please have a look at my website, especialy the Xpresso Anonymous part for more info.
My apologize

Could anyone tell me - was there an actual printed manual sent out with R9?
If so, I didn't get one !
I just got a .pdf file on a CD to put into the help menu.

(I would much rather have a manual in book form as well as a pdf, though luckily I learned most of what I know from studying the R8 one. Was Maxon trying to save money not printing a manual for R9, or was I just unlucky?)

I don't believe R9 shipoped with printed doumentation. Mine didn't. I had a friend print it up for me, and at over 1100 pages just for the core manual, it came out as 2 books, each about 3 inches thick. I have no idea how much this would've cost (full color, binded, tabbed) but I'm sure it wasn't cheap.

With R9 printed manuals are optional and can be ordered seperately.

I had a local company print mine in b/w double sided onn stander printer paper for $55.00.

Kinkos wanted .. now get this ... $535.00 to print to color, double sided, on heavy paper and bound. After I got over the shock and picked my jaw up off the floor, I said "yeah right" and hung up. Shit, for that much I could buy 4 printers and do it myself in no time.

From what I remember the printed reference manuals in the UK is approx £39.99, or around that price.
