pBarrelas: Thanks for the encouragement, I look forward to pushing myself on this. I'm pretty sure I won't be in the running but I find I become a better artist if I tap that competitive fire inside. I like your sig.

It's taken me a few days to get started, but here's what I have so far. These are just a random sampling of some ideas that I have. Unfortunately my scanner was acting up so I was not able to scan in my pecil drawings for the scene I'm attempting to create. Basically it's a shot of an invasion fleet as it descends on a planet that is just send up it's first wave of fighters in defense. I look forward to the challenge of creating this in 3D. Below you will see five test images. Most of these are very low poly so far, as I am just in the stage of fleshing out the shapes that I want to use for the various ships. There are two unfinished views of the defending fighter ships, the invaders communications ship (the one with the engine flare test), an invaders cargo ship and the beginnings of the planet under attack (not nearly done). Let me know what you think, thanks.

A good start.
And from the sounds of it, it looks like the scene's gonna be a killer

Early ships ideas for the challenge, I will be submitting sketches soon. Sorry I am submitting this again. I didn't realize that you had to do a 'Submit Entry' for all of the milestones.

The big ship (with an early rocket engine test) is a communications test, the one with two views is one of the defending fighters, the other large ship is a cargo ship and at the bottom is an early planet test.
