lighting in the perpective shaded viewport

Is it possible to change the lighting in the perpective shaded viewport ? It is something that always annoyed me in Lightwave, not being able to control that at all. What I see now from the various work in progress threads, the models look very dark on the sides.

Not possible and there's some problems ( well with my geforce 5900 with the latest drivers from Nvidia ) with luminosity in viewport ( not working for me ). BTW it would be cool to have a texture decal mode like in XSI ( 100% luminosity and flat shaded ).

tool.set viewport.lightRig on

Although technically it's not a supported feature...
(I'd make sure you're using advanced tool handles)
