Matte Painting At Dusk Of Rocky Beach, Dylan Cole (2D)

Title: Matte Painting At Dusk Of Rocky Beach
Name: Dylan Cole
Country: United States
Software: Photoshop

Here is a painting I just did for myself. I had a lot of fun with it. I used some photo reference for some of the rocks.

this whole systme of what to plug and what not to plug is very hard to understand. I would really like to know the criteria that is used to judge what is to be plugged and what is not. An obvious awesome piece like this is going unnoticed, while other (lets just say less stronge) pieces are being plugged. What should one do to get their stuff looked at by the right person and HOW is the right person?

By the way dylan, great work.....at least I appreciate it!

Excellent artwork!
That eroded, but inhabitated rocks are real eyecatchers!
Somehow they remind me of monument valley . . .

The only thing what disturbs my view is the sharp rock-formation to the very right.
Every element in your pic has that vast amount of detail. This rock has nothing of it?!
But I think its not interesting for the matte in general, because you'll mainly use the center part of it.

May you post some of your references, so we can compare?!
In my eyes, some parts are obviously painted and some regions might contain photomanipulated elements. It would be interesting to know what kind of references you use!

What's the original resolution you've used for the matte?

Haven't found it out yet!
Maybe, someone else can give a sufficient answer?!
I don't know why this artwork catches no other attention . . . is there something missing?

But anyway you've got my vote !!

Cheers, Daniel

Hey Dylan,

looking nice. Did you consider pulling a nice 2.5D move on it? Would certainly bring it to life even further.
How long did you work on this?

Very excellent work, Dylan. Impressive.

The purple "eyelid" cast in the atmosphere by the terminator isn't something a lot of people would think to paint. Props for that. Really nice piece.
