Raytrace shadow problem

Hi!

I have a problem whit raytraced shadows and transparency. When my model is fully transparent I still get wierd shadows in renders. In sample image I used one spotlight whit raytrace shadow and cylinder is fully transparent.

Help me!

OK, I guess you are using the Maya software renderer and your object has Lambert shader. If that's the case, go to the Raytrace options of your shader and give the shadow attenuation a zero - value. VoilŠ, shadow's gone... (edit: BTW, it works exactly the same way with the mental ray renderer...)

Here is the explanation, taken from the Maya Lambert Docs:

Shadow Attenuation (Fake Refraction Caustics )
(aka Studio special effect "Transparency Shade" - raytracing only)
Causes shadows of transparent objects to be brighter in the center, simulating the focusing of light. 0 gives constant intensity shadows, 1 gives shadows focused in the center.
