lightwave, 3ds max, or maya

I am deciding on which program to learn and use in a website. Could someone please tell me which one is the best to learn and use. Also which one is easiest to learn. Thanks

Spend some time looking

There's some good posts and arguments all over this board and many others. Try spending a couple hours reading and finding them yourself. Most people will think this is a silly question. Good luck.

"in a website" like how.. doing buttons and stuff or using it for logos and stuff.. At siggraph Newtek pointed out (a FEW times) that Lightwave had ~70% (right?) of the print market.. So if your task is a bit similar to the 'print' market (since your not sirectly say 'animation') you might like it as other did!..

I personally think LW would do nice for web graphic.. I has a nice render that gives you nice results out of the box. The app is 1250$ (an offer with 10 training dvd's) wich makes it one of the cheaper apps out there. If you decied to try out LW make sure you have a good book on your fingertips.. Comming from other apps (si3d/maya) I felt like there was a barrier that I had to get over before getting on with LW.. A few books helped me with this.. "Inside LW (version#)" & The manual(don't have alot of tutorials though) and now I think Lightwave KICKS BUTT!

But as said above.. Give them a try.. Perhaps see if you can get a demo by a reseller. Hehe.. a reseller.. He will not only claim that HIS product is that best but also claim that YOU will lose weight when using THIS app.. And he will, best of all, gladly answer all your questions regarding your eventually 'BUY'..

i wont bash other programs so i'll tell you the what i like about LightWave.

LightWave has a huge kickass community and if you need help all you need to do is post on one of these forums and you'll get a lot of feedback.
http://www.newtek.com/discus/
http://www.lwg3d.com/forums/
http://www.cgtalk.com

and then there is a lot of great books and dedicated websites that help you get your job done.

plus you'll want an awesome modeller, and an awesome renderer for what you're doing, and you'll get that with LW

I agree, if you just need modeling and rendering, then LW is a great way to go. Another couple of solutions for Web Graphics would be:

Discreet - Plasma ($650)
http://www.discreet.com/products/plasma/

Cinema 4D - Art ($695)...
http://maxon.net/pages/products/c4d...c4d_art7_e.html

I haven't used either of these, but they might be worth looking into...
