CopperCube 5.7 released


CopperCube has just been released in version 5.7. CopperCube is a 3D authoring tool for creating interactive 3D apps, games and websites from your 3D models, without programming.

New features in this update are realtime shadows, big game support, dynamic level loading, simplified uploading to Android Play Store, floating point render targets and more. See a detailed list of changes here.

Seems like this could be useful for us non-programmer types. These screenshots don't really impress me though. Many aspiring game developers with little programming experience are coming from the art/design side of development. Many have modeling, texturing etc. skills but no easy way to put them into an interactive form. This is why so many choose Unity and UE4, as they are reputed to be the easiest to use without having programming experience, yet require little sacrifice in visual quality.
I'd like to know more about the graphical capabilities of CopperCube, especially with regard to PBR workflows. PBR has become very consistent across programs like Marmoset, Substance, iClone and now even Blender with the new Eevee viewport. For me to consider any game engine today, it would have to incorporate PBR currently or in the near future.

Yes, that's exactly what it was made originally for: the first version was just a tool for transforming 3d models made by artists into a Flash app so they could show it on their website. It has come a long way since then.

PBR isn't supported, although there are plans to extend the renderer with a lot of new shaders and features into that direction.
